About ARNOLD, CA

Untitled Document

Arnold is named after Bob and Bernice Arnold, who, in 1927 opened the Ebbetts Pass Inn. Prior to that, the community was comprised of two large ranches where logging was the main industry. The inn served as a stop for people traveling along the Ebbetts Pass route as well as lodging for those visiting nearby Calaveras Big Trees State Park. In 1928, Camp Wolfeboro was established nearby as a Boy Scout camp and continues to be in operation today.

Arnold is a thriving and prosperous community located just 20 miles south of St. Louis where the Meramec River joins the Mighty Mississippi. As the largest city in Jefferson County with a population of 20,082, Arnold is the southern gateway to St. Louis. It is not surprising that more people and businesses are discovering what Arnold has to offer. Jefferson County is the second fastest growing county in the State of Missouri.

Arnold has a wide variety of dining, entertainment, shopping, and employment opportunities that blend the comfort of our hometown atmosphere and the progress of metropolitan St. Louis. Arnold is located on the I-55 corridor, which provides easy access to interstates I-270 and I-44. The true attraction to Arnold is our community, our people, our rich heritage and a fantastic life style. Come join us.

The city has grown since its incorporation in 1972 with many businesses and several new home developments. The business community includes an array of business types, including large national retailers, medical and professional offices, retail chains, manufacturers and family-owned businesses. Residents also enjoy some of the most affordable housing in the St. Louis area and a variety of shopping venues.
