About CAPAY, CA
The Capay Valley offers the opportunity to experience California the way it used to be: family friendly, hard working and serene. A tranquil region of Northern California in the eastern foothills of the Coast Range, the Capay Valley lies between the hustle and bustle of the San Francisco Bay and Sacramento metropolitan areas. Home to several communities of affable residents, a band of Wintun Indians, small farms and ranches, and an abundance of wildlife, the Valley has an unspoiled natural beauty in its rolling hills, creeks, vistas, and heritage oaks. We invite you to sample this unique section of Yolo County by tasting the cornucopia of Capay Valley Grown products. From annual crops to livestock to orchards, the Capay Valley provides more than 50 different types of agricultural products for you and your family to enjoy, including fruits and vegetables, wheat, wine, beef, lamb, walnuts, and almonds.
Capay was originally known as Minchville in 1857, then the name was changed to Langville in 1875 after J.H. Lange who built a hotel in the small town. In 1887, the railroad came and the town flourished. Buy some yummy roadside honey or, just across Highway 16, buy your yummy honey a cool one.
