About FOREST PARK, IL
Located approximately 10 miles west from Chicago’s downtown loop area, Forest Park Illinois combines the unlimited resources of an urban setting with a small town sense of community, making it an exceptional place in which to live, work and do business.
We enjoy award-winning stage plays at Circle Theatre, first class dining at any number of fine eateries and pubs, and play host to a variety of regionally attended events every year.
Quality education, affordable homes and a close-knit, active community also make Forest Park the perfect place to raise a family. Our unique combination of charming small-town life and urban sophistication benefits large and small businesses alike.
Getting here is easy; the Metra, CTA Elevated Trains (both the Green and Blue lines) and the Eisenhower Expressway can be accessed in town.
We welcome you to our community. Come for a visit, stay for awhile. Forest Park…the best of both worlds: big city access with small town charm.
The Village of Forest Park is more than 100 years old and is a Mainstreet community. Madison Street is the Village’s main business district and has undergone some massive reconstruction, which is esthetically pleasing to the eye. Dining and entertainment along the main strip is some of the best in the Western Suburbs.
The Village has a rich history, which includes original cobblestone streets. Some of the cemeteries located on the outskirts of town house many historically famous deceased individuals. Interested parties may tour the cemeteries to find Ernest Hemingway’s parents, a Druid Monument, members from the Haymarket Day riot and many other historical figures.
The Village has an Aquatic Center located at the Park District of Forest Park, which boasts two large water slides, a volleyball court, and a child safe water sport area. The Park District of Forest Park has been the site for the Midwest’s annual “No Gloves Nationals” for many years consecutively and is consistently chosen because of the wonderfully maintained fields for play. Recently the park added a rink for “in-line” skaters and a state of the art Soccer field.
Forest Park Public Schools has four grammar schools and one middle school. The Village is also home to Proviso Central Math and Science Academy. There are two private parochial schools as well.
